What is Noun and types of Noun?

Noun - A noun is the name of a person, an animal, a place, a thing, or a quality, action and state.

किसी व्यक्ति, पशु, स्थान, वस्तु या गुण कार्य और दशा को प्रकट करने वाला शब्द Noun (संज्ञा) कहलाता है।

or

A Noun is a word which is used to name a person, an animal, a place or a thing.

किसी व्यक्ति, पशु, स्थान या वस्तु  का बोध कराने वाले शब्द को Noun कहते है।

PROPER NOUN

1. Proper noun :- A Proper noun is the special name of some particular person, place or thing.

किसी व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान विशेष के नाम को Proper noun कहते हैं। जैसे- Ramesh, Radha, Geeta, Ganga, Agra, Chandigarh etc.

Sahil has a fine painting. 

Bombay is a big city. 

Gita is a sacred book. 

Sunday is the rest day. 

March is the third month of the year.

* Proper noun का first letter हमेशा capital होता है।

COMMON NOUN

2. Common Noun :- A Common Noun is the name given in common to every person, place or thing of the same class or kind.

किसी जाति के हर व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान के लिए प्रयुक्त एक नाम Common Noun कहलाता है।

COLLECTIVE NOUN

3. Collective Noun:- A Collective Noun is the name of a number of persons, things all places taken together and spoken of as a whole. 

ऐसा शब्द जो व्यक्तियों, वस्तुओं का स्थान को समूह के रूप में दर्शाए, Collective Noun कहलाता हैं।

जैसे- crowd, family, army, garland, herd, fleet etc.

This garland is made of rose.

I saw a crowd in the ground.

Indian army fought bravely.

Our team has won the match. 

Flock of sheep is in the field.

* उपरोक्त sentences में garland, crowd, army, team व flock - Collective Noun हैं।

MATERIAL NOUN

4. Material Noun :- A Material Noun denotes the matter or substance of which thing are made.

वह पदार्थ जिसमें कोई वस्तु बनती है, Material Noun कहलाता है।

जैसे - wheat, water, gold, iron, oil, silver, milk etc.

Curd is made of milk.

Chair made of wood.

Chain made of gold.

Saw is made of iron.

Floor is made of wheat.

ABSTRACT NOUN

5. Abstract Noun :- An Abstract Noun is the name of a quality, action, state, feeling or an idea which we can neither touch nor see but can only think of.

Abstract Noun उस गुण, कार्य, दशा, अनुभव या विचार का नाम है जिसे हम न छु सकते हैं, न देख सकते हैं बल्कि केवल सोच सकते हैं।

Quality : Honesty, Anger, Joy, Courage.

Action  : Speech, Obedience, Growth, Discovery.

State     : Cold, Childhood, Adulthood, Kindness.

Honesty is the best policy. 

His speech was upto Mark.

He is affected with cold. 

Childhood is the prime stage of life. 

Your courage is really admirable.
